order vs Transfer journal in AX 2012
Transfer order:
- Path: Inventory and warehouse management à Periodic à Transfer orders
- Transfer order has a step by step
procedure such as receive, ship and receive.
- Transfer order is used to transfer
physical goods from one warehouse to other and from one site to other.
- Using transfer order, goods can be
tracked which are in transit.
- Using transfer order, we can
generate Shipped and Received documents.
Transfer journal:
- Path: Inventory and warehouse management à Journals à Item transactions à Transfer
- Using transfer journal, goods can
be transferred instantly.
- Using transfer journal we cannot
track various stages of transfer such as picked, shipped and received, hence we
cannot generate Shipped and Received documents.
- Transfer journal can be used to
transfer good between warehouses that belongs to same site.
- Transfer journal can be used to
correct the incorrect inventory transactions such as color, size etc…
